The fisherman is back, this time on a speedboat in a mountain lake, and the reels crackle with electricity. If you have played any other Big Bass slot, the core mechanic is familiar: Fisherman Wilds collect Fish Money symbols and the values are paid on collection.

The change that makes Big Bass Blast different from earlier entries in the series: Fisherman Wilds can now land and collect in the base game, not just during free spins. That makes regular spins more active. The tradeoff is fewer starting free spins than some earlier Big Bass entries. Very high volatility, 96.50% top RTP, 5,000x max win.

The Theme

A speedboat cutting through a mountain lake with electricity crackling between the reels and glowing tubes running along the grid edges. Premium pay symbols are fishing rods, tackle boxes, dragonflies, and floats. Card royals from 10 to A fill the lower end. Five matching premium symbols pay 50x to 200x. Five matching royals pay 5x to 10x.

The electrified grid is the visual hook. It does not change the mechanics but it gives Big Bass Blast a different energy to the series standard.

The Fisherman Wild

Fisherman Wilds only land on the leftmost and rightmost reels, reels 1 and 5. They substitute for all regular symbols except scatters. When a Fisherman Wild lands, it collects the values of all Fish Money symbols currently on the grid at the same time.

In the base game, the Fisherman Wild can carry a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, or 10x. When it does, that multiplier applies to the combined total of all Fish Money symbols collected that spin. One 10x wild collecting several high-value fish symbols produces the main base game payouts.

Fish Money Symbols

Fish Money symbols can land on any reel and carry random values between 0.5x and 500x the bet. They pay nothing on their own. Their value is only realised when a Fisherman Wild collects them on the same spin. Multiple fish symbols collected by one wild add up to a combined total, multiplied by the wild's multiplier if one is active.

Base Game Helper Features

Three random events can activate during the base game to create collection opportunities that would not otherwise happen:

Hook on 2 Scatters: When only two scatters land in the base game, one short of triggering free spins, a hook animation may pull a third scatter onto the grid, triggering the bonus automatically.

Money Fish Added: When a Fisherman Wild is on the grid but no Fish Money symbols are present, the game may randomly drop Money Fish onto the reels at the end of the spin for the wild to collect.

Bazooka: When Fisherman Wilds are present but no Money Fish, a bazooka can fire and change all non-wild symbols on screen to new ones. The intention is to create Money Fish that were not there before.

The same three features can also activate during the free spins round.

Free Spins

Triggering

Three, four, or five scatter symbols trigger free spins:

  • 3 scatters: 5 free spins
  • 4 scatters: 7 free spins
  • 5 scatters: 9 free spins

A Fisherman Wild is guaranteed to land on every free spin. That means collection happens every spin by default, unlike the base game where collection only fires when both a wild and money symbols happen to land together.

Collecting Fisherman Wilds and Retriggers

During free spins, every Fisherman Wild that lands is counted toward a total. Every seventh collected Fisherman Wild triggers five more free spins and upgrades the collection multiplier:

  • 7th wild collected: 5 extra spins, multiplier moves to 2x
  • 14th wild collected: 5 more spins, multiplier moves to 3x
  • 21st wild collected: 5 more spins, multiplier moves to 10x

There are no further retriggers after the third. The maximum multiplier of 10x means every Fish Money collection from that point forward is worth ten times its face value. A run where several 500x fish symbols are collected at 10x applies to the same formula the original Big Bass Bonanza pioneered, just with a higher ceiling.

Bonus Buy

One buy option at 100x stake. It delivers free spins with the triggering spin guaranteeing three, four, or five scatters randomly. At €0.10 minimum bet the buy costs €10. At €240 max bet it costs €24,000.

The Ante Bet at 1.5x per spin increases the chance of triggering free spins. It adds 50% to each spin cost and is the lower-cost way to improve trigger frequency without buying the bonus directly.

RTP and Volatility

Top RTP is 96.50%. Three settings: 96.50%, 95.50%, 94.50%. Confirm which your casino runs before playing.

Volatility is Very High. That is the classification from the Pragmatic Play data sheet and it is worth taking seriously. Very High volatility in the Big Bass series means the session outside free spins can run for a long time with modest collection payouts before anything significant happens. The base game Fisherman Wild additions make the wait more interesting than in previous entries, but the overall swing profile is sharper than high-volatility Big Bass titles like Big Bass Bonanza or Bigger Bass Bonanza.

Max Win

5,000x your bet. At €0.10 that is €500. At €240 max bet it is €1,200,000.

Getting to 5,000x requires the free spins running to 21 Fisherman Wilds collected (for the 10x multiplier), multiple high-value Fish Money symbols landing and being collected across that run. The 500x maximum fish value at 10x multiplier from a single collection pays 5,000x alone, which is the ceiling hit on a single collect.

How Big Bass Blast Fits the Series

Big Bass Blast is not the highest-ceiling Big Bass entry. Big Bass Splash 1000 offers 25,000x. Big Bass Bonanza Keeping it Reel goes to 10,000x.

The main addition over earlier entries is the base game collection. Older Big Bass slots treated the base game as a waiting room between bonuses, wilds only landed during free spins. Here they land in the base game too, with multipliers up to 10x. That gives base game sessions a reason to pay attention rather than just watching the spin counter.

The starting free spin count (5-9) is lower than some earlier Big Bass slots, which is the trade-off.

Our Verdict

Big Bass Blast is a solid entry in the series. The base game Fisherman Wild additions are the right kind of change, they make regular spins worth playing rather than just waiting for the bonus. The three helper features (Hook, Money Fish, Bazooka) add random collection opportunities that keep the session active.

The Very High volatility label means this suits players who are comfortable with long waits between big outcomes. The 100x bonus buy is accessible at €0.10 minimum. The 96.50% RTP is strong for the series. If you play Big Bass slots and want to see the formula with a more active base game, Big Bass Blast earns its place in the rotation.
