Fire in the Hole 3 is the third trip down the mine with Nolimit City's whiskey-loving dwarfs. The entrance is frozen shut this time. Distant explosions. Strong smell of whiskey. And apparently there's two dwarfs now.
I wanted to check this out because the original Fire in the Hole is a fan favorite. Nolimit City packed this one with their signature mechanics. xBomb Wilds, xSplit, xHole, collapsing reels, and a Lucky Wagon Spins bonus that can go crazy with the right enhancers. Plus a 70,000x max win, which is up from the original.

How It Looks
Same mine setting but frozen over. Ice blocks cover the reels with hidden features inside. The dwarfs are back, and now there's two of them causing trouble underground.
Nolimit City's usual dark humor is here. Whiskey references. Explosions. Chaos. The audio fits the underground mining theme with industrial sounds and the occasional dwarf grunt.
Base Game
You start with 6 reels and 3 active rows. Each collapse adds another row up to 6 rows max.
Collapses trigger from:
- A winning combination
- xBomb Wild explosion
- Wild Mining feature
- xHole feature
Winning symbols get paid and removed. Everything falls down. New symbols drop in from above. This keeps going until nothing else triggers.
xBomb Wild Multiplier
xBomb Wilds substitute for any symbol except bonus symbols.
How they work:
- When they explode, they remove all adjacent symbols (except bonus symbols)
- Each explosion increases the win multiplier by its value for the next collapse
- All xBomb Wilds explode before the next collapse
- They explode whether they're part of a win or not
The multiplier builds up as more xBombs explode. This is where base game wins can get serious.
Wild Mining
This triggers in the main game when 3, 4, 5, or 6 of the same symbols line up horizontally or vertically. But only when there's no winning combinations, no active xHole, and no active xBomb Wild.
What you get:
- 3 symbols in a row = 1 Wild
- 4 symbols in a row = 2 Wilds
- 5 symbols in a row = 3 Wilds
- 6 symbols in a row = 4 Wilds
The triggering symbols get removed and Wilds appear in the middle positions. Everything above the bar explodes and triggers a new collapse.
Buried Features (Ice Blocks)
Ice blocks can contain hidden features. They stay inactive until the ice is removed by an exploding xBomb Wild or revealed by xSplit.
Ice blocks can contain:
- Wild symbols
- xSplit symbols
- Win multipliers (2x, 3x, 5x, 10x, 20x, 50x, or 100x)
- xHole symbols
- Bonus symbols
- Max symbol (2x2 size, awards max win when all ice is cleared)
The buried win multipliers are big. Finding a 100x multiplier hidden in the ice can change everything.
xHole
When an xHole symbol appears on the reels, it activates.
What happens:
- Only regular paying symbols get sucked in
- They scatter to random positions with split symbols (size 1 to 3)
- xHole leaves an empty space which triggers a collapse
- Winning symbols get paid and removed before xHole triggers
Landing multiple xHole symbols makes the symbol size increase multiple times. More chaos, more potential.
xSplit
xSplit symbols split all other symbols on their reel, doubling the value of those symbols.
Rules:
- Bonus, xSplit, and xHole symbols can't be split
- After all xSplit symbols activate, they turn into regular symbols
- Ice blocks hit by xSplit get removed if there's a collapse
Splitting symbols doubles their value. Combined with multipliers, this adds up fast.
