Nolimit City skipped straight from Tanked to Tanked 3: First Blood 2. No Tanked 2. The title is a deliberate nod to Rambo's naming conventions, and it sets the tone perfectly for a studio that has built its reputation on ignoring convention entirely.

Tanked 3 takes that foundation and stacks bombs, Tank Boosters, Coinburst, three separate free spins tiers, xGOD, xGlitch, and a grid that can grow from a 4-5-6-5-6-5-4 starting layout to a massive 9-10-11-12-13-12-11-12-13-12-11-10-9 fully expanded state. It is overwhelming at first. It earns most of it.

How Tanked 3: First Blood 2 Works

The game runs on an irregular grid built from four sections, each expandable up to three times through explosions. Four coloured clans — each represented by a character symbol — move across the grid collecting gems of their matching colour. When a character picks up a gem, the player is awarded that gem's current value multiplied by the base bet. Wilds can be collected by any character regardless of colour.

The xLoot System

Each gem colour has seven payout levels. At the lowest level, gems pay 0.05x to 0.15x the base bet. At the highest level, they pay 3x to 10x. Gems level up when their corresponding character kills an enemy character — every kill adds one level to that character's gem type.

So the progression loop is: characters move, collect gems, encounter enemies, weapons fire, kills happen, gem values rise, and the cycle continues for as long as the round keeps running.

Coins and Coinburst

Coins can appear on the grid with fixed values from 1x to 5,000x the base bet. When a character picks up a coin, the value is paid immediately. If that character is killed, it drops any coins it collected onto adjacent grid positions — those dropped coins can then be picked up by surviving characters.

Coinburst is the high-variance coin event. When a character collects a Coinburst symbol, every position that any character traversed during that spin and all its avalanches transforms into a coin. That can fill a large portion of the grid with coin values in a single sequence.

Bombs and Grid Expansion

Two bomb types can appear on the grid:

  • Bomb — explodes in one direction, removes nearby symbols, and expands the grid in that direction
  • Three Way Bomb — explodes in three directions simultaneously, potentially expanding multiple sections

Bombs only trigger when no characters can move and all available Tank Boosters have been used. Grid expansion can reveal new feature symbols in the newly opened sections, creating a chain reaction of possibilities.

Tank Boosters

Five booster types can be picked up by characters and used when movement stalls:

  • Rocket — targets an enemy, removes surrounding symbols and characters, expands the nearest grid section
  • Loot Rocket — acts like the Rocket but also guarantees collection of any feature symbols dropped by killed characters
  • Grenade — targets a random enemy and removes all characters and symbols in its blast pattern
  • Hatchet — the character holding it remains alive; all others and nearby symbols are removed
  • Airstrike — hits two to three enemies and clears their surrounding area

If a killed character had its own Tank Boosters, those stay with it when it respawns.

Pickpocket and Booms

When characters end up adjacent with no movement possible, proximity events can fire:

  • Pickpocket — two adjacent characters, one receives a random Tank Booster, Coinburst, or Bonus symbol
  • Small Boom — three adjacent characters, the one that can clear the most symbols explodes, gems of that colour gain +1 level
  • Big Boom — four adjacent characters, all explode and clear every paying symbol on the grid, all gem sections expand by one step, and every gem gains +1 level

Free Spins

Getting into free spins requires a character to collect Bonus symbols. The tier reached determines which mode activates:

Thresher Spins (3 Bonus Symbols)

Seven spins. Gem levels and grid size carry over from the base game. Each additional Bonus collected during the trigger awards one more spin. Standard mode with all base game features still active.

Reaper Spins (4 Bonus Symbols)

Seven spins with everything from Thresher Spins, plus coins become sticky. Any coins on the grid when Reaper Spins trigger remain in place between spins until collected. Coins that land during the feature also stay sticky throughout.

The Dead Pay Well Spins (5 Bonus Symbols)

Seven spins with everything from Reaper Spins, plus one extra mechanic: coins collected by characters are paid out but then also carried by that character across spins. When a character carrying coins is killed, it drops those coins onto adjacent positions — where they can be collected and paid out again by whoever picks them up.

Getting into The Dead Pay Well Spins with a developed grid, high gem levels, and sticky coins accumulating across seven spins is the setup that drives Tanked 3 toward its ceiling.

xMechanics

Tanked 3 uses four xMechanics from the Nolimit City suite:

  • xLoot — the core payout engine described above
  • xGOD — the most powerful single mechanic in the Nolimit portfolio. Can trigger the max win of 25,584x in either the base game or any bonus mode, independently of all other features. No other wins needed.
  • xGlitch — triggers when a character can only pick up one symbol, causing feature symbols to rain down during avalanches. Can repeat 4 to 50 consecutive times.
  • xTra Spin — at the end of a round, players may have the option to purchase one extra spin at a cost based on the current reel setup. Grid size and symbol positions are retained. The option only appears if the cost is less than or equal to the previous spin's win.

Bonus Buy Options

Option Cost Effect
Bonus Blitz2x stakeGuaranteed 1 Bonus symbol
Guaranteed Coinburst50x stakeGuaranteed 1 Coinburst symbol
Maxed Out200x stakeMaximum grid size with all gems at highest value
God Mode4,000x stakeMax Win symbol lands on the reels

The Maxed Out buy at 200x is the standout option. At €0.20 minimum bet it costs €40 and delivers the game at its most powerful setup — full grid, all gems at level seven. The 4,000x God Mode buy at €0.20 costs €800 and is a direct shot at the 25,584x max win.

RTP and Volatility

The top RTP is 95.99%. Casinos may offer Tanked 3 at 95.33%, 94.01%, or 92.01% depending on their settings. Always check which version is active before playing. The 92% setting is notably low for a modern slot.

Volatility is extreme at 8/10. Free spins trigger roughly once every 259 spins. The 20.24% hit frequency means one in five spins produces a result in the base game, but the vast majority of those are modest payouts from character gem collections. The serious money is in developed free spins rounds and xGOD triggers.

Max Win

The max win is 25,584x your bet. The probability is 1 in 21 million. At €0.20 that is €5,117. At €100 max bet it is €2,558,400.

xGOD can deliver the max win in any round, including the base game, with no other features or wins required. That is both the most thrilling and most humbling aspect of Tanked 3 — the max win can theoretically arrive from anywhere, but realistically requires either xGOD to fire or The Dead Pay Well Spins to fully develop with a maximised grid.

Our Verdict

Tanked 3: First Blood 2 is enormous in scope and rewards patience with the learning curve. The xLoot system, gem levelling, character interactions, and three-tier free spins structure combine into something that feels meaningfully different from the standard Nolimit City toolkit, even while using several familiar components.

The game has real weaknesses. Players who found the original Tanked slow will find this version similarly deliberate. Some community feedback noted the art style feels less serious than the original. The sheer volume of interlocking mechanics can make sessions feel opaque until the systems click.

But when it clicks, Tanked 3 is excellent. The Maxed Out buy at 200x stake is an accessible entry into the game at full power. The Dead Pay Well Spins with coins cascading between dying characters is one of the more original free spins modes NLC has built. And xGOD is always lurking. Extreme volatility players looking for NLC's next deep system will find it here.
