Cygnus 6 is the sixth game in ELK Studios' night sky series. This time they've moved the setting to Machu Picchu, the ancient Inca citadel. Stars, constellations, and cosmic mystery mixed with South American imagery. The series has built a following since 2019, and this one adds new features while keeping what worked before.
I wanted to check this out because the Cygnus games have a distinct feel. They're not like other slots. The constellation mechanics, the atmosphere, the progression system. ELK does something different here. And they've added a new Cygnus Realm feature plus an instant max win symbol.
Here's what I found.

How It Looks
You're high above the clouds at Machu Picchu. Ancient Inca buildings with fires burning. A massive night sky full of stars. Constellations connect to the gameplay mechanics.
ELK knows how to build atmosphere. The Cygnus series has always had that mysterious nighttime feel, and this one keeps it going. Stars, cosmic imagery, ancient civilization. It works together.
The right side of the screen shows your current constellation progress. A pillar tracks where you are. Visually busy but not confusing once you understand the systems.
Base Game
You start with 6 columns and 4 rows. That gives you 4,096 ways to win.
When you win, those symbols explode. Remaining symbols drop down, left, or right to fill gaps. A new row gets added at the top. The grid fills again. This avalanche continues as long as new wins appear.
The grid can grow up to 8 rows. At max size, you have 262,144 ways to win. That's a lot of ways.
Symbols:
- Low pays: Blue, green, and red gems (0.2x for 6 of a kind)
- High pays: Birds, serpents, cats, stars (0.3x to 5x for 6 of a kind)
- Wild: Substitutes for all payout symbols
Star Constellations
This is the progression system. It saves at each bet level.
The game starts you on constellation 1 (a butterfly with 3 stars). Each star has three states: inactive, active, and consumed.
How it works:
- Stars start inactive
- A star becomes active when a winning symbol appears in front of it
- A star becomes consumed after being used in the starlight feature
- Triggering starlight, Cygnus Realm, or the bonus advances you to the next constellation
There are 4 constellation stages. After completing all 4, you loop back to the first one.
The pillar on the right shows your progress. It's like a ladder tracking how far you've climbed.
Starlight Feature
When 2 or more stars in your current constellation are active at the end of an avalanche, the starlight feature triggers.
All symbols on one or more constellation lines transform into matching pay symbols or wilds. The active stars become consumed and can't trigger starlight again in the same round.
This can create big wins when it connects on a full grid with lots of ways.
Special Symbols
Star Charger: When this reaches the bottom row, it activates 1 to 3 stars in your constellation. Then it becomes a wild.
Multiplier: When this reaches the bottom or leftmost column, it adds +1 to your active multiplier. Then it becomes a wild. The multiplier applies to all wins and resets on a new base game spin. If both multiplier and star charger activate on the same spin, multiplier goes first.
Max Win Symbol: If this reaches the leftmost column, it pays whatever you need to hit 50,000x. Instant max win. If it lands on the bottom of columns 2 to 6, it gets redropped one column to the left at the end of the avalanche cycle. One redrop per cycle.
Scatter: Works the same way as the max win symbol for redropping. Reaching the leftmost column triggers the bonus.
Cygnus Realm
This is new for Cygnus 6. It triggers when all constellation stars are activated or consumed.
How it works:
- Plays on a 6x8 grid
- You get 3 spins
- Your active multiplier carries over
- All symbols in front of constellation stars become mystery symbols
- Blocker symbols fall out each spin
- Mystery symbols are sticky
- Landing a premium mystery symbol resets your spins to 3 and converts to a regular mystery
- When spins run out, all mystery symbols transform to the same payout symbol
This is like a second bonus feature. You're collecting mystery symbols and hoping they all convert to a high paying symbol at the end.
Bonus Game
A scatter reaching the leftmost column triggers 7 free spins. Your active multiplier carries over.
During free spins:
- Landing another scatter in the leftmost column adds +3 spins
- The grid starts with a safety level of 4 rows
- Each winning spin adds +1 row to the safety level (max 8)
- The multiplier stays active the whole round
Building up rows during free spins means more ways to win as the feature continues. The persistent multiplier can get big if you keep winning.
X-iter Bonus Buy
ELK's X-iter system gives you 5 options.
| Option | Cost | What You Get |
|---|---|---|
| Bonus Hunt | 2.5x | 3x higher chance to trigger bonus |
| Mega Bonus Hunt | 5x | 6x higher chance to trigger bonus |
| Cosmic Spins | 50x | Random pillar multiplier, plays on 8 rows |
| Bonus Game | 100x | Direct into bonus, 9 star Cygnus constellation if Realm triggers |
| Shooting Stars | 500x | 2x to 10x multiplier, 1 to 4 constellations selected, Cygnus Realm plays out |
The lower cost buys (2.5x and 5x) work for longer sessions with better bonus chances. The 500x Shooting Stars buy is expensive but gives you the loaded Cygnus Realm experience.
If you like bonus buy slots, there's good variety here.
Bankroll Advice
High volatility with 50,000x max win. The 94% RTP is low.
Bring at least 300 to 400x your bet size. At €1 spins, that's €300 to €400. Expect dry spells. The constellation progression can feel slow.
The max win symbol is interesting though. If it reaches the leftmost column, you win. No need to climb multipliers to the top.
Mobile
Works fine on my phone. The expanding grid fits the screen. Constellation progress shows clearly on the side. Some visual complexity but playable.

Cygnus 6 works for you if:
- You liked earlier Cygnus games
- Progression systems appeal to you
- Atmospheric slots with good visuals matter

- 50,000x max win potential sounds good
- Multiple bonus features interest you
Skip this if:
- 94% RTP is too low

- You prefer slots without saved progress systems
What I Liked
- 50,000x max win with an instant max win symbol
- Cygnus Realm adds a second bonus type
- Constellation progression gives goals to chase
- Grid expands to 262,144 ways at max rows
- Atmospheric visuals and Machu Picchu setting
- X-iter has options at multiple price points
- Mystery symbol conversion can hit big
What I Didn't Like
- 94% RTP is below average
- Progression can feel slow
- Lots of mechanics to learn
- Bonus buys can be punishing
- Starlight feature doesn't always connect well
My Rating: 3.5/5
Good atmosphere, interesting mechanics, solid max win. The 94% RTP and complex systems keep it from scoring higher. Best for Cygnus fans and players who enjoy progression-based slots.
