Le Bandit is Hacksaw Gaming's Parisian heist slot starring Smokey the raccoon. He's prowling the backstreets with a crowbar, marking winning positions that turn into coin reveals when Rainbow symbols land. Cluster pays, cascades, and Golden Squares drive the action.
I tested this because it's the original that spawned Le Pharaoh. Wanted to see how the mechanics evolved.

How It Looks
Parisian backstreets at night. Smokey the raccoon in his element. Le Bandit nails the urban crime aesthetic with personality.
6x5 grid using cluster pays. Land 5+ matching symbols touching horizontally or vertically to win.
Super Cascades
Wins trigger cascades in Le Bandit, but with a twist.
Here's what happens: You land a winning cluster. Every symbol in that cluster disappears. So far, standard cascades.
The twist: ALL matching symbols anywhere on screen also vanish, even if they weren't part of the winning cluster.
Example: You land 7 matching symbols in a cluster. Three more of the same symbol sit elsewhere on the grid. All 10 disappear.
New symbols drop in. If new clusters form, the process repeats. Cascades continue until nothing wins.
This creates longer cascade chains than standard cluster games. One win in Le Bandit can clear half the screen.
Golden Squares - The Core Mechanic
Every position that forms part of a win gets marked with a Golden Square when that symbol disappears.
Golden Squares stay on screen after the cascade ends.
They activate when: A Rainbow symbol lands on the same spin.
What they reveal when activated:
- Bronze Coins: 0.2x to 4x
- Silver Coins: 5x to 20x
- Gold Coins: 25x to 500x
- Four-Leaf Clovers: Special multiplier symbols
- Pots of Gold: Special collector symbols
How the reveals work in Le Bandit:
Step 1: Squares Flip and Reveal
All Golden Squares flip over showing coins or special symbols.
Step 2: Four-Leaf Clovers Multiply
Clovers multiply all adjacent cells (including Pots of Gold) by x2 to x10.
Adjacent means directly touching: up, down, left, right, or diagonal.
Step 3: Pots of Gold Collect
Pots of Gold collect all coin values on screen plus other Pot of Gold values.
They activate top to bottom, left to right.
If multiple Pots of Gold appear, they collect each other's values in sequence.
Step 4: Squares Activate Again
After the last Pot of Gold collects, Golden Squares activate again for another round.
Fresh coins and symbols appear. Clovers multiply them. Pots of Gold collect them again.
Process repeats until done.
This cascading reveal system is how Le Bandit's 10,000x wins happen. Multiple rounds of Clovers multiplying high-value Gold Coins before Pots of Gold sweep everything up.
Luck Of The Bandit Bonus
Trigger: 3 FS symbols in base game.
You get 8 free spins.
Key feature: Golden Squares remain highlighted between spins until activated by a Rainbow.
In Le Bandit's base game, Golden Squares disappear after activation or when the next spin starts. In this bonus they persist across multiple spins.
You can build up Golden Squares over several spins, then trigger them all at once when a Rainbow finally lands.
Retriggers:
- 2 FS symbols = +2 spins
- 3 FS symbols = +4 spins
Instant upgrade: Landing 4 FS symbols during the bonus upgrades you immediately to All That Glitters Is Gold. You keep your current spins plus get 4 more.
All That Glitters Is Gold Bonus
Trigger: 4 FS symbols at once in base game.
Starts with 12 free spins.
The upgrade: Golden Squares remain highlighted the ENTIRE bonus round. They can be activated multiple times by Rainbow symbols.
Previous bonus (Luck Of The Bandit) keeps squares lit until first activation. This Le Bandit bonus keeps them lit permanently.
Every time a Rainbow lands, all Golden Squares activate, reveal prizes, then light back up ready to activate again next Rainbow.
You can trigger the same positions 3, 4, 5+ times across the feature.
Retriggers work the same way (2 FS = +2 spins, 3 FS = +4 spins).
This is where serious money happens in Le Bandit. Multiple activations of the same Golden Squares with Pots of Gold collecting repeatedly.
Treasure At The End Of The Rainbow Bonus
The ultimate Le Bandit feature you can't buy.
Trigger: 5 FS symbols at once in base game. Extremely rare.
12 free spins awarded.
Golden Squares stay highlighted throughout (like All That Glitters Is Gold).
The killer feature: Rainbow symbol GUARANTEED on every single spin.
That means Golden Squares activate 12 times minimum across the feature. Every spin triggers reveals, Clovers, Pots of Gold, then squares light back up for the next spin.
Retriggers possible (2 FS = +2, 3 FS = +4).
This is the max win mode in Le Bandit. Can't be bought. Have to earn it through 5 scatter luck.

I've played Le Bandit and Le Pharaoh. The Golden Squares mechanic works well across all three. Le Fisherman adds the Big Catch Bar and Epic Rainbow which fills the entire grid with special symbols. That's a nice upgrade from the previous games.
My Rating: 3.5/5
Solid mechanics, clean execution, accessible volatility. Le Pharaoh's improvements knock Le Bandit down half a point. Still worth playing if you want the simpler original or prefer Parisian raccoons over Egyptian ones.
