Money Train 2 is the sequel that raised the bar for bonus buy slots. The original was good. This one is legendary. Relax Gaming took everything that worked, cranked it up, and delivered 50,000x max win potential. The Money Cart Bonus Round became the standard other games try to match.

I've played this one more times than I can count. The base game can be brutal. Long stretches of nothing. But when that bonus hits, anything can happen. I've seen it pay 50x. I've seen it pay 5,000x. The variance is wild and that's what makes it exciting.

Here's what you need to know.

How It Looks

Steampunk Wild West. The train looks like it might fall apart any second. Gears, pipes, ducts everywhere. It's a rickety contraption sitting in a hot desert town.

The characters got upgraded from the original. They look more Mad Max now. The Payer, the Sniper, the Collector, the Necromancer. Each one has a distinct personality and role in the bonus.

The soundtrack fits perfectly. Adds tension during base game and goes crazy when the bonus triggers.

Base Game

40 paylines across 5 reels and 4 rows. Low symbols are card suits. High symbols are the character crew paying 8x to 20x for full lines.

The wild is an exhaust pipe skull. Pays same as the Necromancer and substitutes for everything.

Base game was boring in Part 1. They fixed that here.

Respins Feature

Land 2 scatters and the Respins feature triggers. This is new for Part 2.

Each scatter reveals a multiplier. They add together. Then respins start.

Respins continue until you win. Each non winning spin adds +1 to the multiplier. When a win finally hits, the full multiplier applies.

I like this feature. It takes the sting out of landing 2 scatters and missing the bonus. Plus watching that multiplier climb during respins builds tension.

Money Cart Bonus Round

Land 3 or more scatters to trigger the main event. Night falls. A new grid rolls in.

You start with 3 spins. Triggering scatters lock in place with their values. Every new symbol that lands resets spins to 3 and adds value.

The feature ends when you run out of spins.

Here's where it gets interesting. Different symbols do different things.

Bonus Symbols

  • Regular Bonus: Shows value between 1x and 10x.
  • Golden Bonus: Shows value between 20x and 200x. These are the ones you want.
  • Payer: Adds its value to ALL other visible symbols.
  • Collector: Collects ALL visible values and adds them to itself.
  • Collector/Payer: Does both. Collects everything, then adds that total to all other symbols.
  • Sniper: Doubles the value of 3 to 8 symbols. Can hit the same symbol multiple times.
  • Necromancer: Brings 1 to 6 already used symbols back to life. Imagine bringing back a Collector that already collected once.
  • Reset Plus: Increases starting spin count by 1.
  • Persistent Payer: Adds its value to all symbols every spin for the rest of the feature.
  • Persistent Sniper: Doubles 3 to 8 symbols every spin for the rest of the feature.
  • Persistent Collector: Collects all values every spin for the rest of the feature.

Expanding Reels

When a reel fills completely with symbols, a new reel unlocks. Up to 2 additional reels can appear.

More reels means more space for symbols. More symbols means more value. This is how the feature snowballs into massive wins.

Bonus Buy

100x your bet to trigger the Money Cart Bonus Round immediately.

The RTP jumps to 98% when buying. That's one of the highest bonus buy RTPs in slots.

After playing hundreds of spins without triggering the bonus naturally, that 100x buy becomes tempting. During my testing, it took over 600 spins once to trigger organically.

My Experience

I've had sessions where the bonus pays 30x. Disappointing but it happens.

I've also had sessions where Persistent Collector lands early, Necromancer brings it back twice, and the feature explodes past 1,000x.

The variance is extreme. You can buy 10 bonuses and lose on all of them. Or you can hit one that changes your session completely.

That's Money Train 2. The potential is real but so is the risk.

Bankroll Advice

High volatility (5/5) with 50,000x max win. The 19.55% hit frequency is low.

Bring at least 300 to 400x your bet. At €1 spins, that's €300 to €400 minimum. If you're bonus buying at 100x each, you need even more.

The base game respins help survival. But this slot can eat bankroll fast between bonus triggers.

Money Train Series

This is Part 2 of the series. Money Train 3 and Money Train 4 followed. Each builds on the formula.

If you like Money Train 2, check out the sequels. They add more mechanics while keeping the core Money Cart Bonus that made this one famous.

Mobile

Works great on mobile. The bonus round with all its symbols displays clearly. Persistent symbols show their effects. Standard Relax Gaming quality.

What I Liked

  • 50,000x max win potential is massive
  • 98% RTP on bonus buy is exceptional
  • Money Cart Bonus can snowball into huge wins
  • Respins feature fixed the boring base game problem
  • Expanding reels add more symbol space
  • Persistent characters create real excitement
  • Necromancer bringing back Collectors is chef's kiss
  • Influenced an entire generation of slots

What I Didn't Like

  • Base game can be painfully slow
  • 19.55% hit frequency means lots of dead spins
  • Bonus can disappoint with low values
  • Multiple RTP versions (check your casino)
  • €20 max bet limits high rollers
  • Can take 600+ spins to trigger naturally

Final Verdict

Money Train 2 is a landmark slot. It perfected the bonus buy hold and respin formula that dozens of games have copied since. The Money Cart Bonus Round with its Collectors, Payers, Snipers, and Necromancers created a template.

The potential is real. 50,000x. I've seen clips of massive wins. I've had good hits myself. But I've also bought plenty of bonuses that paid under 50x.

That's the deal with Money Train 2. Extreme highs and crushing lows. The respins feature helps the base game feel less dead. The 98% bonus buy RTP is genuinely excellent.

Worth playing if you want to experience the slot that changed bonus buys. It's still one of the best in the genre years after release. Just respect the volatility and manage your bankroll.

My Rating: 4.5/5

Exceptional bonus mechanics, great max win potential, influential design. The brutal base game and low hit frequency keep it from perfect. A slot that earned its legendary status.
