Money Train 3 takes the series into the future. The wild west is gone. Steampunk is gone. Now it's a gritty futuristic laboratory with chrome and neon. The money cart gets fired like a laser beam from a gun. And the max win doubles to 100,000x.

I've played a lot of Money Train 2. It's one of my favorite bonus buy slots. So I was curious if Part 3 could live up to it. New modifier symbols. Persistent versions of everything. Tommy Gun variants that target specific symbols. The Money Cart Bonus Round got a serious upgrade.

Here's what I found.

Money Train 3 vs Money Train 2

Feature Money Train 2 Money Train 3
Theme Steampunk Wild West Futuristic laboratory
Max Win 50,000x 100,000x
RTP (Base) 96.40% 96.10%
RTP (Bonus Buy) 98% 96.50%
Modifier Symbols 11 13
Base Game Feature Respins with multiplier Sticky streak respins with multiplier

Max Bet €20 €10
New Symbols N/A Absorber, Tommy Gun Sniper, Tommy Gun Payer, Persistent Shapeshifter

My take: Money Train 3 doubles the max win but drops the bonus buy RTP from 98% to 96.5%. That's a big deal. Part 2's bonus buy was exceptional value. Part 3 gives you more options and bigger potential but less favorable math. Trade offs.

How It Looks

Chrome everywhere. Neon lights. The reels sit inside a menacing skull locomotive. There's a 3D cinematic intro where the train gets fired like a laser. Worth watching at least once.

The characters look rougher than before. Necromancer, Collector, Sniper, Payer. All back with futuristic upgrades.

The soundtrack is clever. Western tunes mixed with electronic beats. Tips its hat to the series roots while sounding fresh.

Base Game

5 reels, 4 rows, 40 fixed paylines. Standard line wins left to right.

Gas mask Wild lands on any reel. Substitutes for everything and pays the same as the top symbol.

Low symbols: Card suits paying 3x to 5x for five of a kind

Premium symbols: The crew paying 8x to 20x for five of a kind

Base game isn't exciting. But that's Money Train. The bonus is the attraction.

Random Respin Feature

This triggers randomly on non winning spins.

One symbol type becomes sticky. You get respins as long as new sticky symbols keep landing. Multiplier symbols (1x, 2x, 3x) can appear to boost the final payout.

Feature ends when no new sticky symbols land or when you fill the grid.

Helps break up the grind. I've had decent hits from this. Nothing massive but it keeps things moving.

Money Cart Bonus Round

Land 3 or more bonus scatters to trigger. Persistent gold symbols can count toward the trigger too.

Starting symbols become sticky and reveal cash values between 1x and 10x. You get 3 respins. Each new symbol resets respins to 3.

Fill a reel completely and a new reel opens up. Can happen twice for two extra reels.

This is where Money Train lives. The modifier symbols make it special.

13 Modifier Symbols

Here's the full lineup. More than Part 2 had.

  • Collector: Adds all values in view onto itself. Classic Money Train.
  • Sniper: Doubles 3 to 8 symbols. Can hit the same symbol multiple times. Imagine doubling a Collector three times.
  • Collector/Payer: Collects value from 3 to 5 symbols then adds its total back to those symbols. Two way action.
  • Necromancer: Reactivates 2 to 7 spent modifier symbols. Brings back your best symbols for another round.
  • Absorber (New): Absorbs and removes cash symbols from the grid. Consolidates value into one spot.
  • Tommy Gun Sniper (New): Doubles a random symbol 2 to 6 times. Targeted destruction.
  • Tommy Gun Payer (New): Adds 5x to 100x to a random symbol 3 to 10 times. Can create huge single values.
  • Persistent Collector: Collects all values every spin for the rest of the feature. Game changer.
  • Persistent Sniper: Doubles 3 to 8 symbols every spin. Compounds fast.
  • Persistent Collector/Payer: Does both collection and payout every spin. Ridiculous when it lands early.
  • Persistent Necromancer: Reactivates 1 to 7 spent modifiers every spin. Keeps bringing symbols back.
  • Persistent Shapeshifter (New): Becomes a different modifier symbol each spin. Wildcard chaos.

The persistent symbols are where 100,000x becomes possible. Land one early and watch values explode.

Bonus Buy Options

Four choices now instead of one.

Option Cost What You Get
1 Spin Bonus 20x Bonus with 1 respin (resets to 1)
2 Spin Bonus 50x Bonus with 2 respins (resets to 2)
Regular Bonus 100x Standard 3 respin bonus
Persistent Bonus 500x Guaranteed persistent symbol

The cheap options are interesting. 20x for a quick shot at the bonus. High risk but affordable.

The 500x persistent buy is for serious players. Guarantees you start with a persistent symbol which changes everything.

If you like bonus buy slots, the variety here is nice.

My Experience

I've played Money Train 3 plenty of times. The 100,000x potential is real but rare.

Most bonuses pay between 20x and 200x. Occasionally you hit something bigger. The persistent symbols make the difference. Without them, bonuses can fizzle quickly.

The 500x persistent buy feels expensive but it gives you a better shot at real wins. The 20x and 50x buys are gambles. Sometimes they connect, often they don't.

I still think Part 2's 98% bonus buy RTP was better value. But Part 3's max win potential is undeniably higher.

Bankroll Advice

High volatility (5/5) with 100,000x max win. The €10 max bet limits exposure but also limits win potential in real money terms.

Bring at least 300 to 400x your bet. At €1 spins, that's €300 to €400 minimum.

The cheap bonus buys (20x, 50x) let you gamble more frequently. The expensive ones need deeper pockets.

Mobile

Works perfectly on mobile. The futuristic visuals look great on any screen. Bonus round with all its symbols stays readable. Standard Relax Gaming quality.

Final Verdict

Money Train 3 is the biggest version of the series. 100,000x max win. 13 modifier symbols. Persistent versions of everything. The potential is there.

But it's not a pure upgrade from Part 2. The bonus buy RTP dropped significantly. That 98% on Part 2 was exceptional value. The 96.5% here is fine but not special.

The new symbols are creative. Tommy Gun variants targeting specific symbols. Persistent Shapeshifter changing every spin. Absorber consolidating values. When these combine with existing modifiers, the bonus round can go crazy.

Worth playing if you want the highest max win potential in the Money Train series. Just know you're trading some RTP value for that bigger ceiling. If bonus buy RTP matters more to you, Part 2 might still be the better choice.

My Rating: 4/5

Excellent max win, creative new symbols, good bonus buy variety. The RTP drop and €10 max bet hold it back slightly. Still one of the best bonus buy slots available.
